Artificial intelligence and the highway bill dominate builders’ attention

The data center construction frenzy and a new, potentially larger highway bill were top of mind for builders during the latest round of contractor earnings calls and financial reports.

Executives from Jacobs, Skanska and Balfour Beatty emphasized the opportunity that the artificial intelligence build out represents. Indeed, Turner Construction, the largest contractor by revenue, attributed its record $29.9 billion in 2025 revenue, at least in part, to hyperscaler data center builds.

On the same topic, however, leaders from WSP took a different tack and warned against “AI hysteria” as some investors began to fret that the technology could undermine the business proposition of professional services firms.

On the civil construction front, firms including AECOM and Granite were eyeing the new surface transportation bill currently being hashed out in Congress with optimism. For its part, Granite opined that the amounts being discussed around the bill were significantly higher than those in the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021.

Here’s a full roundup of builders’ most recent earnings calls and financial reports.
