NOIDA: After struggling to find takers for several months, the 23-storey multi-level parking project at the Botanical Garden Metro station, with a capacity for 8,000 cars, seems to be finally on track.
The project will be executed in three stages by three different developers. While agreements for two phases have already been inked, a developer for the third phase is likely to be finalized this month.Once that’s done, construction will begin by July, Noida Authority officials said on Tuesday.
“Each part of the project will be undertaken separately by three different developers or companies. Currently, the agreements are in place for two parts of the project and the third part will be finalized this month. Work should then start within 15 days, by July,” S C Mishra, Noida’s Authority’s project engineer and work circle in-charge II, told TOI.
Officials said that this division formula will also help in expediting the Rs 750cr project, the foundation stone for which was laid by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in April this year.
“Instead of three years, the project will be completed in two-and-a-half years from the commencement of the project. Work on the project is expected to start in July this year. The expansion joint technique will be used for construction of the project. This technique is used in large buildings or buildings with multiple wings or towers. These expansion joints are intended to separate a large building into smaller discreet sections that can act independently from one another,” Mishra said.
The 70m high building will sprawl across 30,000 sq meters and will have 13 floors dedicated to commercial use, including retail and office space. The rest of the area will be utilized for parking vehicles. “Clearances from IIT-Delhi are already in place for the facility, which will be semi-automatic and built across 10 floors, including two basements, of the building,” the official said.
At present, only 500 vehicles can be parked in the existing parking lot at the Botanic Garden Metro station. However, once the Botanical Garden-Kalindi Kunj Metro link is complete, it will lead to a major increase in footfall as well as vehicular movement at and around the station. So, the Authority has decided to construct the new parking lot.
