I-65 lanes closed in downtown Louisville. Here’s why

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Multiple lanes on I-65 South near Muhammad Ali Boulevard were closed Monday afternoon in downtown Louisville.

At about 12:15 p.m., crews closed the left two lanes and began what TRIMARC officials are calling “freeway maintenance” on the roadway.

TRIMARC cameras showed what appeared to be a large gash spanning the width of the interstate. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 5 said crews needed to repair expansion joints on the bridge.

The lanes are back open as of Monday evening.
