Modular firm Thurston bought out of administration

The £47m turnover firm called in administrators from Leonard Curtis on December 22 after 55 years in business.

Leonard Curtis has been working with the group since last month looking for a potential buyer after a challenging period for the business.

The sale to manufacturing conglomerate GCH Corporation Ltd will protect 200 out of an original 275 jobs.

The Enquirer understands that most of the jobs lost were at the Catfoss manufacturing site in Yorkshire.

Cassie Hutchings, CEO of GCH Corporation, said: “Thurston is a respected UK manufacturer of modular buildings with a strong heritage and deep sector expertise.

“As a long-term, privately owned industrial group, GCH is committed to stabilising and investing in the business. We are excited to welcome Thurston into the GCH family and look forward to supporting its next phase of growth.”

Administrator Hilary Pascoe added: “We are delighted to have completed a sale and wish the new owners every success.”
