A luxury villa in Miami’s Belle Meade neighborhood is drawing attention for its hidden hydraulic garage door, a design feature that blends innovation with aesthetics.

At first glance, the property appears to have no garage. However, at the push of a button, a section of the wall swings outward and upward, revealing a concealed entryway.

The 4.5- x 2.4-m (15- x 8-ft) hydraulic door, manufactured by Schweiss Doors, is designed to match the home’s facade and remains virtually undetectable when closed.

The home was designed and built by Mirna Barake, owner of Barake Design, who has more than 15 years of experience in interior design and property development.

Barake worked closely with Schweiss Doors’ sales and engineering teams to develop a custom solution that aligned with her vision. The finished product is clad in blond composite wood, contributing to an “organic and tropical” aesthetic with mid-century influences.

Inside the garage, rather than concealing the mechanical components, Barake chose to highlight them. The exposed metal structure, black-painted plywood, and visible hydraulic system, including a two-horsepower pump, are incorporated into the interior design.

The project required compliance with Miami-Dade County’s strict building regulations.
