The Saginaw Road Bridge in Sanford will be closed starting Monday, March 31 to repair an expansion joint.
According to a post from Village Clerk Janell Kopke, the bridge, just west of downtown Sanford, will be closed for approximately 10 days.
A detour will direct eastbound Saginaw Road traffic south on 7 Mile Road, east on West Wackerly Road, then north on M-30, which crosses Saginaw Road east of town. Westbound traffic will be directed south on M-30 to West Wackerly, then to 7 Mile and back north to Saginaw Road.
The village is working with Gerace Construction to repair the expansion joint at a proposed cost of $62,000.
A separate expansion joint was repaired on the bridge in 2024. The village continues to maintain the bridge in order to keep it operational while waiting for grants to fund a $10.7 million reconstruction project.
