Safety supervisors don’t work in a vacuum—they often finds means of support through training, technology and more.
A recent report from Vector Solutions reveals that construction supervisors play a critical role in safety but often lack adequate support, training and technology. Based on responses from 602 U.S. supervisors, findings from “The State of Frontline Safety Leadership in Construction” highlight the need for better communication tools, mental health resources and continuous learning. While most supervisors feel responsible for safety, many make critical decisions without company guidance. Addressing gaps in leadership training, multilingual communication and mental health management is essential to strengthening jobsite safety culture and retention.
Key points from frontline supervisors:
- 40% seek more communication/conflict resolution training
- 47% lack access to mental health resources
- 67% have made safety decisions without company guidance
- 81% want safety training refreshers
- 72% believe better tech would improve safety and quality
