Influential politics-focused news organisation Politico is considering an expansion into Australia, in a push that would challenge the local market’s coverage of federal politics, policy and foreign affairs.

Politico chief executive Goli Sheikholeslami confirmed she would be visiting Australia with Politico Europe regional director Jamil Anderlini later this month. The pair will attend a lunch event hosted by law firm Gilbert + Tobin’s founder and chairman, Danny Gilbert.
