Expansion joints on bridges are facilities installed on the bridge deck to absorb expansion, contraction, and deflection caused by temperature changes or loads, allowing vehicles to pass smoothly.

This construction work involves replacing damaged and aged expansion joints due to continuous vehicle traffic, aiming to alleviate inconvenience for road users and ensure the safety of the facilities.

For Hangju Bridge and Hyeoncheon IC Bridge, nighttime construction will be carried out from the 29th of this month to December 3rd to minimize vehicle congestion and inconvenience to citizens, with partial lane closures during the construction period.

Additionally, for Goyang Junggyo, daytime construction will be conducted on December 4th to minimize inconvenience to nearby residents caused by nighttime construction noise.

However, the construction schedule may change depending on weather conditions and on-site circumstances.

Yoo Je-hak, Director of the Road Management Division, stated, “We ask for citizens’ understanding regarding the partial lane closures on some road sections, which are unavoidable due to this expansion joint replacement work aimed at improving road traffic conditions and ensuring facility safety. We will complete the construction quickly and safely.”
