The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) has announced Algenesis Labs and Innovative Chemical Products (ICP) as finalists for the 2025 Polyurethane Innovation Award. The annual award recognizes companies and individuals who have launched innovative products, technologies, or initiatives in the marketplace between June 2023 and June 2025.

“Each year, CPI is honored to present the industry’s highest technical distinction, celebrating the spirit of innovation that drives the polyurethane sector forward,” said Jason Sloan, director of CPI. “These advancements not only reflect the ingenuity of our industry but also demonstrate how polyurethane technologies are helping to solve some of the world’s most complex challenges. We congratulate Algenesis Labs and ICP for their groundbreaking work and on being named finalists for this year’s award.”

HandiFoam® E84 Spray Foam Insulation from ICP is a low-pressure, two-component spray polyurethane foam system engineered to maximize efficiency and reduce labor costs while delivering seamless, uniform coverage for air sealing and energy efficiency. Using next-generation HFO technology, HandiFoam E84 is formulated for reliable application in a variety of seasonal conditions and offers industry-leading foam dimensional stability along with consistent reactivity and insulation performance throughout its 24-month shelf life.

Soleic® from Algenesis Labs is a novel polyester aromatic polyurethane technology that meets the performance demands of traditional polyurethane applications while solving one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time: microplastics. The polyester polyols are USDA BioPreferred certified at 100% bio-content. They are made from renewable, plant-based raw materials that do not compete with food or contribute to deforestation. At end-of-life, Soleic is designed to fully biodegrade in compost, soil, and marine environments, breaking down into CO₂ and biomass instead of persisting in ecosystems.

The finalists will present their innovations on October 6 during the opening session of the 2025 Polyurethanes Technical Conference. An expert technical panel will score the presentations and conference attendees will vote. The winner will be announced during the closing awards luncheon on October 8.

The 67th Polyurethanes Technical Conference, is taking place October 6–8, 2025, at the Hyatt St. Louis at The Arch in St. Louis, Missouri, will be a hub of innovation, collaboration, and discovery. This year’s agenda includes a brand-new panel discussion, 15 technical sessions, in-person professional development courses, and vibrant networking events — including the highly anticipated “Women in Polyurethanes” luncheon.
