Kolkata: KMDA has initiated the process of engaging a firm with expertise in constructing bridge expansion joints to replace the damaged CR seals of Maa flyover’s expansion joints. The agency is expected to be engaged by end of Sept.
The replacement of the damaged CR seals is estimated at Rs 65.3 lakh. The agency, once selected, will have to complete the work in four months.KMDA plans to engage an agency for Maa flyover’s upkeep.
A CR seal or rubber seal is a V-shape structure placed on the expansion joints of flyovers to protect the joints from external exposures. The structural assessment of Maa flyover detected wear-and-tear of the rubber seal. “If a worn-out rubber seals are not replaced, a flyover’s expansion joints and bearings could be damaged,” said a bridge expert.
